Poly (Rc)-Binding Protein 1 (PCBP1) ELISA Kit for Human

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS282601

Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate PCBP1 in samples. An antibody specific for PCBP1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyPCBP1 present is bound by the… More details

Other Notes

Small volumes of PCBP1 elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS282601 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip-or-full plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Poly (rC)-binding protein 1 (PCBP1) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing PCBP1. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS282601 kit is based on PCBP1 antibody-PCBP1 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect PCBP1 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, PCBP1. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for PCBP1

This intronless gene is thought to have been generated by retrotransposition of a fully processed PCBP-2 mRNA. This gene and PCBP-2 have paralogues (PCBP3 and PCBP4) which are thought to have arisen as a result of duplication events of entire genes. The protein encoded by this gene appears to be multifunctional. It along with PCBP-2 and hnRNPK corresponds to the major cellular poly(rC)-binding protein. It contains three K-homologous (KH) domains which may be involved in RNA binding. This encoded protein together with PCBP-2 also functions as translational coactivators of poliovirus RNA via a sequence-specific interaction with stem-loop IV of the IRES and promote poliovirus RNA replication by binding to its 5'-terminal cloverleaf structure. It has also been implicated in translational control of the 15-lipoxygenase mRNA, human Papillomavirus type 16 L2 mRNA, and hepatitis A virus RNA. The encoded protein is also suggested to play a part in formation of a sequence-specific alpha-globin mRNP complex which is associated with alpha-globin mRNA stability. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
