Prefoldin Subunit 5 (PFDN5) ELISA Kit for Human

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS282616

Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate PFDN5 in samples. An antibody specific for PFDN5 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyPFDN5 present is bound by the… More details

Other Notes

Small volumes of PFDN5 elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS282616 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip-or-full plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Prefoldin subunit 5 (PFDN5) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing PFDN5. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS282616 kit is based on PFDN5 antibody-PFDN5 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect PFDN5 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, PFDN5. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for PFDN5

This gene encodes a member of the prefoldin alpha subunit family. The encoded protein is one of six subunits of prefoldin, a molecular chaperone complex that binds and stabilizes newly synthesized polypeptides, thereby allowing them to fold correctly. The complex, consisting of two alpha and four beta subunits, forms a double beta barrel assembly with six protruding coiled-coils. The encoded protein may also repress the transcriptional activity of the proto-oncogene c-Myc. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described. UniProt Comments for PFDN5

PFDN5: Binds specifically to cytosolic chaperonin (c-CPN) and transfers target proteins to it. Binds to nascent polypeptide chain and promotes folding in an environment in which there are many competing pathways for nonnative proteins. Represses the transcriptional activity of MYC. Belongs to the prefoldin subunit alpha family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Transcription, coactivator/corepressor

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12q13.13

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; nucleus; prefoldin complex

Molecular Function: protein binding; transcription corepressor activity; unfolded protein binding

Biological Process: negative regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; protein folding; regulation of transcription, DNA-templated; retina development in camera-type eye
