Probable Methyltransferase (TARBP1) ELISA Kit for Human

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS282706

Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate TARBP1 in samples. An antibody specific for TARBP1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyTARBP1 present is bound by… More details

Other Notes

Small volumes of TARBP1 elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS282706 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip-or-full plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Probable methyltransferase (TARBP1) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing TARBP1. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS282706 kit is based on TARBP1 antibody-TARBP1 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect TARBP1 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, TARBP1. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for TARBP1

HIV-1, the causative agent of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), contains an RNA genome that produces a chromosomally integrated DNA during the replicative cycle. Activation of HIV-1 gene expression by the transactivator Tat is dependent on an RNA regulatory element (TAR) located downstream of the transcription initiation site. This element forms a stable stem-loop structure and can be bound by either the protein encoded by this gene or by RNA polymerase II. This protein may act to disengage RNA polymerase II from TAR during transcriptional elongation. Alternatively spliced transcripts of this gene may exist, but their full-length natures have not been determined. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

UniProt Comments for TARBP1

TARBP1: Probable S-adenosyl-L-methionine-dependent methyltransferase which methylates RNA molecules such as tRNAs. In case of infection by HIV-1, it binds to the loop region of TAR RNA, a region also bound by RNA polymerase II. Binding of TARBP1 and RNA polymerase II to HIV-1 TAR RNA is mutually exclusive, suggesting that TARBP1 may function alone or in conjunction with HIV-1 Tat to disengage RNA polymerase II from HIV-1 TAR RNA. May act by methylating HIV-1 TAR RNA. Belongs to the RNA methyltransferase TrmH family.

Protein type: EC 2.1.1.-; Methyltransferase; RNA-binding

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q42.2

Cellular Component: nucleus

Molecular Function: RNA binding; tRNA (guanine) methyltransferase activity

Biological Process: enzyme-directed rRNA 2'-O-methylation; regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; tRNA methylation
