Phosphatidylinositol-Binding Clathrin Assembly (PICALM) ELISA Kit for Human

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS282754

Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate PICALM in samples. An antibody specific for PICALM has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyPICALM present is bound by… More details

Other Notes

Small volumes of PICALM elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS282754 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip-or-full plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Phosphatidylinositol-binding clathrin assembly protein (PICALM) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing PICALM. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS282754 kit is based on PICALM antibody-PICALM antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect PICALM antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, PICALM. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for PICALM

This gene encodes a clathrin assembly protein, which recruits clathrin and adaptor protein complex 2 (AP2) to cell membranes at sites of coated-pit formation and clathrin-vesicle assembly. The protein may be required to determine the amount of membrane to be recycled, possibly by regulating the size of the clathrin cage. The protein is involved in AP2-dependent clathrin-mediated endocytosis at the neuromuscular junction. A chromosomal translocation t(10;11)(p13;q14) leading to the fusion of this gene and the MLLT10 gene is found in acute lymphoblastic leukemia, acute myeloid leukemia and malignant lymphomas. The polymorphisms of this gene are associated with the risk of Alzheimer disease. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. UniProt Comments for PICALM

PICALM: Assembly protein recruiting clathrin and adaptor protein complex 2 (AP2) to cell membranes at sites of coated-pit formation and clathrin-vesicle assembly. May be required to determine the amount of membrane to be recycled, possibly by regulating the size of the clathrin cage. Involved in AP2-dependent clathrin-mediated endocytosis at the neuromuscular junction. A chromosomal aberration involving PICALM is found in diffuse histiocytic lymphomas. Translocation t(10;11)(p13;q14) with MLLT10. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
