Fibrinogen Beta Chain (FGB) ELISA Kit for Human

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS284053

Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate FGB in Human serum, plasma. An antibody specific for FGB has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any FGB present is bound… More details

Other Notes

Small volumes of FGB elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS284053 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip-or-full plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Fibrinogen beta chain (FGB) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing FGB. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS284053 kit is based on FGB antibody-FGB antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect FGB antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, FGB. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for FGB

The protein encoded by this gene is the beta component of fibrinogen, a blood-borne glycoprotein comprised of three pairs of nonidentical polypeptide chains. Following vascular injury, fibrinogen is cleaved by thrombin to form fibrin which is the most abundant component of blood clots. In addition, various cleavage products of fibrinogen and fibrin regulate cell adhesion and spreading, display vasoconstrictor and chemotactic activities, and are mitogens for several cell types. Mutations in this gene lead to several disorders, including afibrinogenemia, dysfibrinogenemia, hypodysfibrinogenemia and thrombotic tendency. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2014]

UniProt Comments for FGB

FGB: Fibrinogen has a double function: yielding monomers that polymerize into fibrin and acting as a cofactor in platelet aggregation. Defects in FGB are a cause of congenital afibrinogenemia (CAFBN). This rare autosomal recessive disorder is characterized by bleeding that varies from mild to severe and by complete absence or extremely low levels of plasma and platelet fibrinogen. Patients with congenital fibrinogen abnormalities can manifest different clinical pictures. Some cases are clinically silent, some show a tendency toward bleeding and some show a predisposition for thrombosis with or without bleeding.
