Dopamine Beta-Hydroxylase (DBH) ELISA Kit for Human

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS285557

Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate DBH in samples. An antibody specific for DBH has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyDBH present is bound by the… More details

Other Notes

Small volumes of DBH elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS285557 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip-or-full plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Dopamine beta-hydroxylase (DBH) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing DBH. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS285557 kit is based on DBH antibody-DBH antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect DBH antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, DBH. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for DBH

The protein encoded by this gene is an oxidoreductase belonging to the copper type II, ascorbate-dependent monooxygenase family. The encoded protein, expressed in neuroscretory vesicles and chromaffin granules of the adrenal medulla, catalyzes the conversion of dopamine to norepinephrine, which functions as both a hormone and as the main neurotransmitter of the sympathetic nervous system. The enzyme encoded by this gene exists exists in both soluble and membrane-bound forms, depending on the absence or presence, respectively, of a signal peptide. Mutations in this gene cause dopamine beta-hydroxylate deficiency in human patients, characterized by deficits in autonomic and cardiovascular function, including hypotension and ptosis. Polymorphisms in this gene may play a role in a variety of psychiatric disorders. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2017]

UniProt Comments for DBH

DBH: Conversion of dopamine to noradrenaline. Homotetramer composed of two non-covalently bound disulfide-linked dimers. Activity is enhanced by nerve growth factor (in superior cervical ganglia and adrenal medulla). Trans-synaptic stimulation with reserpine, acetylcholine and glucocorticoids. Belongs to the copper type II ascorbate-dependent monooxygenase family.
