Other Notes

Small volumes of FFA elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS285613 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip-or-full plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Free fatty acids (FFA) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing FFA. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS285613 kit is based on FFA antibody-FFA antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect FFA antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, FFA. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for FFA

This gene encodes a member of the GP40 family of G protein-coupled receptors that are clustered together on chromosome 19. The encoded protein is a receptor for medium and long chain free fatty acids and may be involved in the metabolic regulation of insulin secretion. Polymorphisms in this gene may be associated with type 2 diabetes. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2009]

UniProt Comments for FFA

FFAR1: Receptor for medium and long chain saturated and unsaturated fatty acids. Binding of the ligand increase intracellular calcium concentration and amplify glucose-stimulated insulin secretion. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G- proteins that activate phospholipase C. Seems to act through a G(q) and G(i)-mediated pathway. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Membrane protein, multi-pass; GPCR, family 1; Receptor, GPCR

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19q13.1

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: bioactive lipid receptor activity; G-protein coupled receptor activity; guanyl-nucleotide exchange factor activity; lipid binding

Biological Process: energy reserve metabolic process; G-protein coupled receptor protein signaling pathway; glucose homeostasis; insulin secretion; positive regulation of calcium ion transport; positive regulation of GTPase activity; positive regulation of insulin secretion; regulation of insulin secretion
