Procollagen C Peptidase (PCP) ELISA Kit for Human

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS285804

Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate PCP in samples. An antibody specific for PCP has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyPCP present is bound by the… More details

Other Notes

Small volumes of PCP elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS285804 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip-or-full plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Procollagen C peptidase (PCP) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing PCP. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS285804 kit is based on PCP antibody-PCP antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect PCP antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, PCP. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for PCP

This gene encodes a protein that is capable of inducing formation of cartilage in vivo. Although other bone morphogenetic proteins are members of the TGF-beta superfamily, this gene encodes a protein that is not closely related to other known growth factors. This gene is expressed as alternatively spliced variants that share an N-terminal protease domain but differ in their C-terminal region. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2008]

UniProt Comments for PCP

BMP1: Cleaves the C-terminal propeptides of procollagen I, II and III. Induces cartilage and bone formation. May participate in dorsoventral patterning during early development by cleaving chordin (CHRD). Defects in BMP1 are a cause of autosomal recessive osteogenesis imperfecta (AR-OI). A connective tissue disorder characterized by bone fragility, progressively deforming bones, bowing of limbs due to multiple fractures, very short stature, a triangular face, severe scoliosis, and grayish sclera. AR-OI due to BMP1 mutations belongs to the group of osteogenesis imperfecta type III in the Sillence classification. Belongs to the peptidase M12A family. 7 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
