Other Notes

Small volumes of BCL-2 elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS285920 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip-or-full plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the B-cell leukemia/lymphoma 2 (BCL-2) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing BCL-2. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS285920 kit is based on BCL-2 antibody-BCL-2 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect BCL-2 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, BCL-2. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for BCL-2

This gene encodes a C2H2 type zinc-finger protein by its similarity to the mouse Bcl11a/Evi9 protein. The corresponding mouse gene is a common site of retroviral integration in myeloid leukemia, and may function as a leukemia disease gene, in part, through its interaction with BCL6. During hematopoietic cell differentiation, this gene is down-regulated. It is possibly involved in lymphoma pathogenesis since translocations associated with B-cell malignancies also deregulates its expression. Multiple transcript variants encoding several different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

UniProt Comments for BCL-2

Bcl-11A: Functions as a myeloid and B-cell proto-oncogene. May play important roles in leukemogenesis and hematopoiesis. An essential factor in lymphopoiesis, is required for B-cell formation in fetal liver. May function as a modulator of the transcriptional repression activity of ARP1. Chromosomal aberrations involving BCL11A may be a cause of lymphoid malignancies. Translocation t(2;14)(p13;q32.3) causes BCL11A deregulation and amplification. 6 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Nuclear receptor co-regulator; C2H2-type zinc finger protein; Transcription, coactivator/corepressor

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2p16.1

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; nucleoplasm; nucleus

Molecular Function: metal ion binding; protein binding; protein heterodimerization activity; protein homodimerization activity; transcription corepressor activity

Biological Process: B cell differentiation; negative regulation of axon extension; negative regulation of collateral sprouting; negative regulation of protein homooligomerization; negative regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; positive regulation of collateral sprouting; positive regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; protein sumoylation; regulation of dendrite development; signal transduction; T cell differentiation; transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter
