Gastric Intrinsic Factor (GIF) ELISA Kit for Human

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS287175

This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate GIF in samples. An antibody specific for GIF has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any GIF present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After… More details

Other Notes

Small volumes of GIF elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS287175 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip-or-full plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Gastric intrinsic factor (GIF) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing GIF. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS287175 kit is based on GIF antibody-GIF antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect GIF antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, GIF. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for GIF

This gene is a member of the cobalamin transport protein family. It encodes a glycoprotein secreted by parietal cells of the gastric mucosa and is required for adequate absorption of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is necessary for erythrocyte maturation and mutations in this gene may lead to congenital pernicious anemia. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

UniProt Comments for GIF

Promotes absorption of the essential vitamin cobalamin (Cbl) in the ileum. After interaction with CUBN, the GIF-cobalamin complex is internalized via receptor-mediated endocytosis.
