Other Notes

Small volumes of KIF5A elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS289890 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Kinesin heavy chain isoform 5A (KIF5A) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing KIF5A. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS289890 kit is based on KIF5A antibody-KIF5A antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect KIF5A antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, KIF5A. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for KIF5A

This gene encodes a member of the kinesin family of proteins. Members of this family are part of a multisubunit complex that functions as a microtubule motor in intracellular organelle transport. Mutations in this gene cause autosomal dominant spastic paraplegia 10. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

UniProt Comments for KIF5A

KIF5A: Microtubule-dependent motor required for slow axonal transport of neurofilament proteins (NFH, NFM and NFL). Defects in KIF5A are the cause of spastic paraplegia autosomal dominant type 10 (SPG10). An inherited degenerative spinal cord disorder characterized by a slow, gradual, progressive weakness and spasticity (stiffness) of the legs. Rate of progression and the severity of symptoms is quite variable. Initial symptoms may include difficulty with balance, weakness and stiffness in the legs, muscle spasms, and dragging the toes when walking. In some forms of the disorder, bladder symptoms (such as incontinence) may appear, or the weakness and stiffness may spread to other parts of the body. Belongs to the kinesin-like protein family. Kinesin subfamily.

Protein type: Microtubule-binding; Motor

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12q13.13

Cellular Component: cytosol; kinesin complex; membrane; microtubule; perinuclear region of cytoplasm

Molecular Function: ATP binding; microtubule binding; motor activity; plus-end-directed microtubule motor activity; protein binding

Biological Process: antigen processing and presentation of exogenous peptide antigen via MHC class II; axon guidance; blood coagulation; cytoskeleton-dependent intracellular transport; metabolic process; microtubule-based movement; protein localization; small GTPase mediated signal transduction; synaptic transmission

Disease: Spastic Paraplegia 10, Autosomal Dominant
