Other Notes

Small volumes of NKB elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS037835 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Neurokinin B (NKB) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing NKB. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS037835 kit is based on NKB antibody-NKB antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect NKB antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, NKB. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for NKB

This gene encodes a member of the tachykinin family of secreted neuropeptides. The encoded protein is primarily expressed in the central and peripheral nervous system and functions as a neurotransmitter. This protein is the ligand for the neurokinin-3 receptor. This protein is also expressed in the outer syncytiotrophoblast of the placenta and may be associated with pregnancy-induced hypertension and pre-eclampsia. Mutations in this gene are associated with normosmic hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, May 2010]

UniProt Comments for NKB

TAC3: Tachykinins are active peptides which excite neurons, evoke behavioral responses, are potent vasodilators and secretagogues, and contract (directly or indirectly) many smooth muscles. Belongs to the tachykinin family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12q13.3

Cellular Component: extracellular space; extracellular region

Molecular Function: protein binding; receptor binding

Biological Process: tachykinin signaling pathway; neuropeptide signaling pathway; female pregnancy

Disease: Hypogonadotropic Hypogonadism 10 With Or Without Anosmia
