The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing IL-11. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS041065 kit is based on IL-11 antibody-IL-11 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect IL-11 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, IL-11. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the gp130 family of cytokines. These cytokines drive the assembly of multisubunit receptor complexes, all of which contain at least one molecule of the transmembrane signaling receptor IL6ST (gp130). This cytokine is shown to stimulate the T-cell-dependent development of immunoglobulin-producing B cells. It is also found to support the proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells and megakaryocyte progenitor cells. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2012]
