CD133 Antibody – Rabbit

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Popular Catalog #: MBS462020

Background: CD133, originally known as AC133, is a glycoprotein, also known in humans and rodents as Prominin 1 (PROM1). CD133 is a member of pentaspan transmembrane glycoproteins (5-transmembrane, 5-TM), which specifically localize to cellular protrusions.… More details

Western Blot(WB) of anti-CD133 antibody

Western Blot: The tissue lysate derived from mouse kidney was immunoprobed by Rabbit anti-CD133 (Cat# MBS462020) at 1:500. An immunoreactive band is observed around ~117kDa. This band was depleted by pre-incubation with immunizing peptide.

Immunohistochemistry(IHC) of anti-CD133 antibody

Immunohistochemistry: Human kidney tissue stained with rabbit Anti-CD133 antibody (Cat# MBS462020) at 1:100 for 10 min @ RT. Staining of formalin-fixed tissue requires boiling tissue sections in 10 mM Citrate Buffer, pH 6.0 for 10 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 min.

Other Notes

Small volumes of anti-CD133 antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

Searchable Terms for CD133 purchase

CD133 (also known as AC133 or prominin-1) is a 120 kD glycoprotein encoded by the PROM1 gene. This protein is a pentaspan transmembrane protein that was originally found expressed on the cell surface of hematopoetic progenitor cells and neural stem cells. Its localization to cellular protrusions and association with membrane cholesterol has led to the suggestion that this protein plays a role in the organization of plasma membrane topology. Subsequently, CD133 has also been shown to be expressed on many other stem cell types, such as endothelial progenitor cells and glial stem cells, as well as cancer stem cells (CSCs). A CD133+ cancer cell population can self-renew, differentiate and propagate tumors when injected into nude mice. CD133+ melanoma cells have been used as a vaccine against melanoma in mice.
This rabbit anti CD133 polyclonal antibody reacts with human, rat, and mouse CD133. Its applications include western blot, ELISA assay, flow cytometry, immunoprecipitation, and immunohistochemistry.
