3D Structure
ModBase 3D Structure for P47709
Antigen
Synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acid residues from the C-terminal region of rabphilin 3A.
Immunogen Information
Synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acid residues from the C-terminal region conjugated to KLH
Immunogen Species
Rat
Reactivity Assumed Based on 100% Sequence Homology
Mouse, human, bovine, canine and non-human primate
Species Reactivity Note
The antibody has been directly tested for reactivity in Western blots with rat tissue. It is anticipated that the antibody will react with mouse, human, bovine, canine and non-human primate tissue based on the fact that these species have 100% homology with the amino acid sequence used as antigen.
Biological Significance
Rabphilin-3A is a peripheral membrane protein that binds Ca2+ and phospholipids and is attached to synaptic vesicle membranes (Geppert et al., 1994;Li et al., 1994). The expression of rabphilin 3A is reduced in an animal model of Huntington's disease (Smith et al., 2005). Rabphilin can be phosphorylated at Ser234 by both CAM kinase II and PKA and this phosphorylation has been suggested to regulate neuronal activity during development in a synapse-specific manner (Fykse et al., 1995;Foletti and Scheller, 2001).

Other Notes

Small volumes of anti-RPH3A antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.
