Product Overview

Online Datasheet in PDF
Product Name
Munc18-1 (Ser241) (STXBP1), Polyclonal Antibody
Full Product Name
Anti-Phospho-Ser241 Munc18-1
Product Gene Name
Clonality
Polyclonal
Host
Rabbit
Species Reactivity
Mouse
Form/Format
100 ul in 10 mM HEPES (pH 7.5), 150 mM NaCl, 100 ug BSA per ml and 50% glycerol. Adequate amount of material to conduct 10-mini Western Blots.
Purity/Purification
Affinity Purified (Prepared from rabbit serum by affinity purification via sequential chromatography on phospho- and dephosphopeptide affinity columns.)
Specificity
Specific for the ~65k Munc18-1 protein phosphorylated at Ser241. Immunolabeling is blocked by the treatment of the lysate with lambda phosphatase (30 minutes, 800 units / 1 mg protein).
Preparation and Storage
For long term storage -20 degree C is recommended. Stable at -20 degree C for at least 1 year.
Molecular Weight
65
Chromosome Location
Chromosome: 2; NC_000068.7 (32787607..32847237, complement). Location: 2 B; 2 22.09 cM
3D Structure
ModBase 3D Structure for O08599
Antigen
Phosphopeptide corresponding to amino acid residues surrounding the phospho- Ser241 of mouse Munc18-1.
Immunogen Information
Synthetic phospho-peptide corresponding to amino acid residues surrounding Ser241 conjugated to KLH
Immunogen Species
Mouse
Reactivity Assumed Based on 100% Sequence Homology
Bovine, canine, chicken, human, non-human primates, rat and sheep
Species Reactivity Note
The antibody has been directly tested for reactivity in Western blots with mouse tissue. It is anticipated that the antibody will react with bovine, canine, human, non-human primates, rat, and sheep based on the fact that these species have 100% homology with the amino acid sequence used as antigen.
Biological Significance
Munc-18 (mammalian homologue of Unc-18) is a protein that is thought to be involved in regulating exocytosis due, at least in part, to it ability to bind syntaxin (Ciufo et al., 2005). Munc18-1 is a neuron-specific member of the Sec1/Munc18 protein family that binds to syntaxin1A and is thought to stabilize the complex (Liu et al., 2004). The function of Munc18-1 is thought to be regulated by phosphorylation.

Other Notes

Small volumes of anti-STXBP1 antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

UniProt Comments for STXBP1

Function: May participate in the regulation of synaptic vesicle docking and fusion, possibly through interaction with GTP-binding proteins. Essential for neurotransmission and binds syntaxin, a component of the synaptic vesicle fusion machinery probably in a 1:1 ratio. Can interact with syntaxins 1, 2, and 3 but not syntaxin 4. May play a role in determining the specificity of intracellular fusion reactions

By similarity.

Subunit structure: Binds SYTL4

By similarity. Interacts with STX1A

By similarity.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the STXBP/unc-18/SEC1 family.

Sequence caution: The sequence CAM20726.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous gene model prediction.
