Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most prevalent neurodegenerative disease in the growing population of elderly people. It is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive dementia, loss of cognitive abilities, and deposition of fibrillar amyloid proteins as intra-neuronal neurofibrillary tangles, extracellular amyloid plaques and vascular amyloid deposits. The major constituent of these plaques are aggregates of the neurotoxic amyloid-beta (Abeta or Abeta) peptide. This 36-43 amino acid peptide is derived proteolytically from the transmembrane amyloid precursor protein (APP) by sequential secretase processing.

Although the normal function of Abeta is not well understood, several potential activities have been discovered including activation of kinase enzymes, protection against oxidative stress, regulation of cholesterol transport, and anti-microbial activity (potentially associated with Abeta's pro inflammatory activity).

Small volumes of anti-Abeta antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.
