Natriuretic Receptor C / PGCC (PGCC) Antibody – Rabbit Polyclonal

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS540091

Particulate Guanylate Cyclase C AntibodyThe intracellular levels of Cyclic GMP (cGMP) are maintained by the activity of opposing enzymes: synthesizing gualylyl cyciases (GC) and hydrolyzing phosphodiesterases (PDEs). The synthesizing enzymes (GCs) are found… More details

NCBI Summary for PGCC

guanylyl cyclase; functions as receptor for heat-stable enterotoxin responsible for acute diarrhea [RGD, Feb 2006]

UniProt Comments for PGCC

GUCY2C: Receptor for the E.coli heat-stable enterotoxin (E.coli enterotoxin markedly stimulates the accumulation of cGMP in mammalian cells expressing GC-C). Also activated by the endogenous peptide guanylin. Defects in GUCY2C are the cause of diarrhea type 6 (DIAR6). A relatively mild, early-onset chronic diarrhea that may be associated with increased susceptibility to inflammatory bowel disease, small-bowel obstruction, and esophagitis. Defects in GUCY2C are a cause of meconium ileus (MECIL). A condition characterized by a intestinal obstruction due to inspissated meconium in the distal ileum and cecum, which develops in utero and presents shortly after birth as a failure to pass meconium. Meconium ileus is a known clinical manifestation of cystic fibrosis. Belongs to the adenylyl cyclase class-4/guanylyl cyclase family.

Protein type: Nucleotide Metabolism - purine; Lyase; Protein kinase, RGC; EC 4.6.1.2; Kinase, protein; Protein kinase, dual-specificity (receptor); Membrane protein, integral; Receptor, misc.; Guanylyl cyclase; RGC group; RGC family

Cellular Component: endoplasmic reticulum membrane; guanylate cyclase complex, soluble; integral to membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: adenylate cyclase activity; ATP binding; GTP binding; guanylate cyclase activity; protein kinase activity; toxin binding
