Lyophilized from a 0.2um filtered concentrated (1.0mg/ml) solution in PBS, pH 7.4.
Physical Appearance: Sterile Filtered White lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.
Purity/Purification
>97% by SDS-PAGE and HPLC analyses.
Preparation and Storage
This lyophilized preparation is stable at 2-8 degree C, but should be kept at -20 degree C for long term storage, preferably desiccated. Upon reconstitution, the preparation is stable for up to one week at 2-8 degree C. For maximal stability, apportion the reconstituted preparation into working aliquots and store at -20 degree C to -70 degree C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles

Active Protein Note
Protein activity can be an ambiguous term. Please refer to the data sheet or inquire with Technical Support to determine the definition of activity for this product.
Molecular Weight Information
Approximately 23.0-27.0 kDa on a reducing SDS-PAGE.
Biological Activity
Fully biologically active when compared to the standard. The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of human TF-1 cells is < 2 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of > 5x10^5units/mg.
Endotoxin Level
Less than 1EU/ug of rHuOSM(209a.a.) as determined by LAL method.
Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Reconstitute in sterile distilled water or aqueous buffer containing 0.1% BSA to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. Stock solutions should be apportioned into working aliquots and stored at <-20 degree C. Further dilutions should be made in appropriate buffered solutions.

Other Notes

Small volumes of OSM active protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for OSM

Oncostatin M is a member of a cytokine family that includes leukemia-inhibitory factor, granulocyte colony-stimulating factor, and interleukin 6. This gene encodes a growth regulator which inhibits the proliferation of a number of tumor cell lines. It regulates cytokine production, including IL-6, G-CSF and GM-CSF from endothelial cells. UniProt Comments for OSM

OSM: Growth regulator. Inhibits the proliferation of a number of tumor cell lines. Stimulates proliferation of AIDS-KS cells. It regulates cytokine production, including IL-6, G-CSF and GM-CSF from endothelial cells. Uses both type I OSM receptor (heterodimers composed of LIPR and IL6ST) and type II OSM receptor (heterodimers composed of OSMR and IL6ST). Involved in the maturation of fetal hepatocytes, thereby promoting liver development and regeneration. Belongs to the LIF/OSM family.
