Interleukin-13 Variant (IL13RA2) Human Active Protein

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS546105

The human IL-13 cDNA encodes a 132 amino acid protein containing a proposed 20 amino acid signal peptide. Human IL-13 shares approximately 30% amino acid sequence homology to human IL-4 and the two cytokines exhibit overlapping biological activities. Human… More details

Product Overview

Product Name
Interleukin-13 Variant (IL13RA2), Active Protein
Full Product Name
Recombinant Human Interleukin-13 Variant(rHuIL-13 variant)
Product Gene Name
Product Synonym Names
Interleukin-13 Variant; human IL-13 Variant; Human Interleukin-13
Host
E Coli
Form/Format
Lyophilized from a 0.2mm filtered concentrated solution in PBS, pH 7.2, containing 5% trehalose.
Purity/Purification
>95% by SDS-PAGE and HPLC analyses.
Preparation and Storage
This lyophilized preparation is stable at 2-8 degree C, but should be kept at -20 degree C for long term storage, preferably desiccated. Upon reconstitution, the preparation is stable for up to one week at 2-8 degree C. For maximal stability, apportion the reconstituted preparation into working aliquots and store at - 20 degree C to -70 degree C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Molecular Weight
44,176 Da
Chromosome Location
Chromosome: X; NC_000023.10 (114238538..114252207, complement). Location: Xq13.1-q28
OMIM
300130
3D Structure
ModBase 3D Structure for Q14627
Active Protein Note
Protein activity can be an ambiguous term. Please refer to the data sheet or inquire with Technical Support to determine the definition of activity for this product.
Molecular Weight Information
Approximately 11.8 kDa, a single non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 104 amino acids.
Biological Activity
Fully biologically active when compared to standard. The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependent proliferation of TF-1 cells was < 1.0 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of > 1x106 units/mg. This analog has also been shown to exhibit increased in vivo activity compared to wild type IL-13.
Endotoxin Level
Less than 1EU/mg of rHuIL-13 variant as determined by LAL method.
Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Reconstitute in sterile distilled water or aqueous buffer containing 0.1% BSA to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. Stock solutions should be apportioned into working aliquots and stored at <-20 degree C. Further dilutions should be made in appropriate buffered solutions.

Other Notes

Small volumes of IL13RA2 active protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for IL13RA2

The protein encoded by this gene is closely related to Il13RA1, a subuint of the interleukin 13 receptor complex. This protein binds IL13 with high affinity, but lacks cytoplasmic domain, and does not appear to function as a signal mediator. It is reported to play a role in the internalization of IL13. UniProt Comments for IL13RA2

IL13RA2: a type I membrane protein that binds with high affinity to interleukin-13 (IL13), but not to interleukin-4 (IL4). Lacks a cytoplasmic domain, and does not appear to function as a signal mediator. It is reported to play a role in the internalization of IL13. A member of the Cancer-Testis Antigen (CTA) superfamily. CTAs may play roles in embryonal development and tumor transformation or aspects of tumor progression. CTAs were once thought to be silenced in most normal adult tissues, with limited expression in fetal, placental, testis, and ovarian cells. These proteins are now known to be aberrantly expressed in various cancers and many are capable of eliciting humoral and cellular immune responses. The WSXWS motif appears to be necessary for proper protein folding and thereby efficient intracellular transport and cell-surface receptor binding. The box 1 motif is required for JAK interaction and/or activation. Often overexpressed in brain tumors. A potential vaccine targets for immunotherapy of glioma.
