Interleukin-15 (IL15) Human Active Protein

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS546121

Interleukin 15 is a recently identified novel cytokine that shares many biological properties with IL-2, including T, B and NK cell-stimulatory activities. cDNA clones encoding this cytokine have been isolated from simian, murine and human cell sources. Human… More details

Product Overview

Product Name
Interleukin-15 (IL15), Active Protein
Full Product Name
Recombinant Human Interleukin-15 (rHu IL-15)
Product Gene Name
Product Synonym Names
Interleukin-15; human IL-15; Human Interleukin-15
Host
E Coli
Form/Format
Lyophilized from a 0.2mm filtered concentrated solution in PBS, pH 7.4.
Physical Appearance: Sterile Filtered White lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.
Purity/Purification
>96% by SDS-PAGE and HPLC analyses.
Preparation and Storage
This lyophilized preparation is stable at 2-8 degree C, but should be kept at -20 degree C for long term storage, preferably desiccated. Upon reconstitution, the preparation is stable for up to one week at 2-8 degree C. For maximal stability, apportion the reconstituted preparation into working aliquots and store at -20 degree C to -70 degree C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles
Molecular Weight
18,437 Da
Chromosome Location
Chromosome: 8; NC_010450.3 (90963736..91036638, complement). Location: 8; 8
3D Structure
ModBase 3D Structure for Q95253
Active Protein Note
Protein activity can be an ambiguous term. Please refer to the data sheet or inquire with Technical Support to determine the definition of activity for this product.
Molecular Weight Information
Approximately 12.5 kDa, a single non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 114 amino acids, with a substitution of Q for R at position 112 compared with the wild type IL-13.
Biological Activity
Fully biologically active when compared to standard. The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependant stimulation of the proliferation of CTLL-2 was found to be < 0.5 ng/ml., corresponding to a specific activity of > 2 x 106 units/mg.
Endotoxin Level
Less than 1EU/mg of rHuIL-15 as determined by LAL method.
Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Reconstitute in sterile distilled water or aqueous buffer containing 0.1% BSA to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. Stock solutions should be apportioned into working aliquots and stored at <-20 degree C. Further dilutions should be made in appropriate buffered solutions.

Other Notes

Small volumes of IL15 active protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

UniProt Comments for IL15

Function: Cytokine that stimulates the proliferation of T-lymphocytes. Stimulation by IL-15 requires interaction of IL-15 with components of IL-2R, including IL-2R beta and probably IL-2R gamma but not IL-2R alpha

By similarity.

Subcellular location: Secreted.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the IL-15/IL-21 family.
