Interleukin-7 (IL7) Human Active Protein

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS546192

IL-7 is a hematopoietic growth factor which affects primarily early B and T cells. Produced by thymic stromal cells, spleen cells and keratinocytes, IL-7 can also co-stimulate the proliferation of mature T cells in combination with other factors such as ConA… More details

Lyophilized from a 0.2mm filtered concentrated solution in PBS, pH 7.4.
Physical Appearance: Sterile Filtered White lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder
Purity/Purification
>97% by SDS-PAGE and HPLC analyses.
Preparation and Storage
This lyophilized preparation is stable at 2-8 degree C, but should be kept at -20 degree C for long term storage, preferably desiccated. Upon reconstitution, the preparation is stable for up to one week at 2-8 degree C. For maximal stability, apportion the reconstituted preparation into working aliquots and store at -20 degree C to -70 degree C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles

Active Protein Note
Protein activity can be an ambiguous term. Please refer to the data sheet or inquire with Technical Support to determine the definition of activity for this product.
Molecular Weight Information
Approximately 17.3 kDa, a single non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 153 amino acids
Biological Activity
Fully biologically active when compared to standard. The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependant stimulation of murine 7TD1 cells is less than 0.1 ng/ml. corresponding to a Specific Activity of 1x 107 IU/mg.
Endotoxin Level
Less than 1EU/mg of rHuIL-6 as determined by LAL method.
Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Reconstitute in sterile distilled water or aqueous buffer containing 0.1% BSA to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. Stock solutions should be apportion containing 0.1% BSA to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. Stock solutions should be apportioned into working aliquots and stored at <-20 degree C. Further dilutions should be made in appropriate buffered solutions.

Other Notes

Small volumes of IL7 active protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for IL7

The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine important for B and T cell development. This cytokine and the hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) form a heterodimer that functions as a pre-pro-B cell growth-stimulating factor. This cytokine is found to be a cofactor for V(D)J rearrangement of the T cell receptor beta (TCRB) during early T cell development. This cytokine can be produced locally by intestinal epithelial and epithelial goblet cells, and may serve as a regulatory factor for intestinal mucosal lymphocytes. Knockout studies in mice suggested that this cytokine plays an essential role in lymphoid cell survival. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms. Additional splice variants have been described but their presence in normal tissues has not been confirmed.[provided by RefSeq, Dec 2010]
