Interferon-Gamma (IFN-gamma) Rat Recombinant Protein

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS553083

IFN-gamma is produced mainly by T-cells and natural killer cells activated by antigens, mitogens, or alloantigens. It is produced by lymphocytes expressing the surface antigens CD4 and CD8. IFN gamma receptors are expressed on all types of human cells with… More details

Host
E Coli (Host protein expression may be lot-specific and can be subject to change during production, including bulk orders)
Form/Format
Recombinant Rat IFN-gamma was lyophilized from 0.2 um filtered PBS solution, pH 7.0.
Purity/Purification
>95%, as determined by SDS-PAGE and HPLC
Preparation and Storage
The lyophilized protein is stable for at least 2 years from date of receipt at -20 degree C.
Upon reconstitution, this cytokine can be stored in working aliquots at 2 degree - 8 degree C for one month, or at -20 degree C for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss of activity.

Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Molecular Weight
17,918 Da
3D Structure
ModBase 3D Structure for P01581
Host Note
Optimized DNA sequence encoding Human Rat Interferon gamma mature chain was expressed in Escherichia Coli.
Endotoxin
Endotoxin content was assayed using a LAL gel clot method.
Endotoxin level was found to be less than 0.1 ng/ug (1EU/ug).
Reconstitution
A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in distilled water to a concentration not less than 0.1 mg/mL. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers.
Molecular Weight Note
Native Rat gamma Interferon is generated by the proteolytic removal of the signal peptide, the molecule has a calculated molecular mass of approximately 16 kDa. Recombinant Interferon gamma is a disulfide-linked monomer protein consisting of 135 amino acid residue subunits, and migrates as an approximately 16 kDa protein under non-reducing and reducing conditions in SDS-PAGE.

Other Notes

Small volumes of IFN-gamma recombinant protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for IFN-gamma

an immune molecule produced by T lymphocytes in response to mitogens or antigens [RGD, Feb 2006]

UniProt Comments for IFN-gamma

Function: Produced by lymphocytes activated by specific antigens or mitogens. IFN-gamma, in addition to having antiviral activity, has important immunoregulatory functions. It is a potent activator of macrophages, it has antiproliferative effects on transformed cells and it can potentiate the antiviral and antitumor effects of the type I interferons.

Subunit structure: Homodimer.

Subcellular location: Secreted.

Tissue specificity: Released primarily from activated T lymphocytes.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the type II (or gamma) interferon family.
