Interleukin-1 Alpha (IL-1) Mouse Recombinant Protein

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS553101

Monocytes are the main source of secreted IL1. They express predominantly IL1- beta while human keratinocytes express large amounts of IL1-alpha. Murine macrophages display a transition from IL1-beta to IL1-alpha production during maturation of monocytes into… More details

Host
E Coli (Host protein expression may be lot-specific and can be subject to change during production, including bulk orders)
Form/Format
Recombinant mouse Interleukin-1 alpha was lyophilized from a 0.2 um filtered PBS solution.
Purity/Purification
>95%, as determined by SDS-PAGE and HPLC
Preparation and Storage
The lyophilized protein is stable for at least 2 years from date of receipt at -20 degree C.
Upon reconstitution, this cytokine can be stored in working aliquots at 2 degree - 8 degree C for one month, or at -20 degree C for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss of activity.

Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Molecular Weight
31,023 Da
3D Structure
ModBase 3D Structure for P01582
Domain
IL1
Host Note
Optimized DNA sequence encoding Mouse Interleukin-1 alpha mature chain was expressed in Escherichia Coli.
Endotoxin
Endotoxin content was assayed using a LAL gel clot method.
Endotoxin level was found to be less than 0.1 ng/ug (1EU/ug).
Reconstitution
A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in distilled water to a concentration not less than 0.1 mg/mL. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers.
Molecular Weight Note
Mature Mouse IL-1 alpha, is generated by the proteolytic removal of the signal peptide and propeptide. The molecule has a calculated molecular mass of approximately 18 kDa.

Recombinant IL-1a is a disulfide-linked monomer protein consisting of 157 amino acid residue subunits and migrates as an approximately 18 kDa protein under non-reducing conditions and reducing conditions in SDS-PAGE.

Other Notes

Small volumes of IL-1 recombinant protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

UniProt Comments for IL-1

IL1A: Produced by activated macrophages, IL-1 stimulates thymocyte proliferation by inducing IL-2 release, B-cell maturation and proliferation, and fibroblast growth factor activity. IL-1 proteins are involved in the inflammatory response, being identified as endogenous pyrogens, and are reported to stimulate the release of prostaglandin and collagenase from synovial cells. Belongs to the IL-1 family.
