Product Name
Thrombospondin-1 (TSP-1), Recombinant Protein
Full Product Name
Human Thrombospondin-1 Recombinant
Product Gene Name
Product Synonym Names
thrmbospondin; THBS1; tsp
Host
Insect Cells (Host protein expression may be lot-specific and can be subject to change during production, including bulk orders)
Form/Format
Recombinant Thrombospondin-1 is lyophilized from PBS pH 7.4.
Purity/Purification
>90%, as determined by SDS-PAGE and HPLC
Preparation and Storage
The lyophilized protein is stable for at least 2 years from date of receipt at -20°C. Upon reconstitution, this cytokine can be stored in working aliquots at 2-8°C for one month, or -20°C for six months, with a carrier protein withouth detectable loss of activity. Avoid repeated freeze/ thaw cycles.
OMIM

3D Structure
ModBase 3D Structure for P07996
Host Note
Optimized DNA sequence encoding Human Thrombospondin mature chain was expressed in insect cells.
Endotoxin
Endotoxin content was assayed using a LAL gel clot method.
Endotoxin level was found to be less than 0.1 ng/ug (1EU/ug).
Molecular Weight Note
Native human Thrombospondin, generated by the proteolytic removal of the signal peptide and propeptide, and has a calculated molecular mass of approximately 128 kDa. Recombinant human TSP is a disulfide-linked monomer protein consisting of 1152 amino acid residue subunits, and migrates due to glycosylation as an approximately 140 kDa protein under non-reducing and reducing conditions in SDS-PAGE.

Other Notes

Small volumes of TSP-1 recombinant protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for TSP-1

The protein encoded by this gene is a subunit of a disulfide-linked homotrimeric protein. This protein is an adhesive glycoprotein that mediates cell-to-cell and cell-to-matrix interactions. This protein can bind to fibrinogen, fibronectin, laminin, type V collagen and integrins alpha-V/beta-1. This protein has been shown to play roles in platelet aggregation, angiogenesis, and tumorigenesis. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
