Host Note
Optimized DNA sequence encoding Human Interleukin-24 mature chain including a C-terminal His tag was expressed in HEK293 cells.
Endotoxin
Endotoxin content was assayed using a LAL gel clot method.
Endotoxin level was found to be less than 0.1 ng/ug (1EU/ug).
Reconstitution
A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in distilled water to a concentration not less than 0.1 mg/mL. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers.
Molecular Weight Note
Native human IL-24 has a calculated molecular mass of approximately 18.5 kDa.

Recombinant IL-24 is a disulfide-linked monomeric protein consisting of 165 amino acid residue subunits, and migrates as an approximately 35kDa protein due to glycosylation under reducing conditions in SDS-PAGE.

Other Notes

Small volumes of IL-24 recombinant protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for IL-24

This gene encodes a member of the IL10 family of cytokines. It was identified as a gene induced during terminal differentiation in melanoma cells. The protein encoded by this gene can induce apoptosis selectively in various cancer cells. Overexpression of this gene leads to elevated expression of several GADD family genes, which correlates with the induction of apoptosis. The phosphorylation of mitogen-activated protein kinase 14 (MAPK7/P38), and heat shock 27kDa protein 1 (HSPB2/HSP27) are found to be induced by this gene in melanoma cells, but not in normal immortal melanocytes. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
