Active Protein Note
Protein activity can be an ambiguous term. Please refer to the data sheet or inquire with Technical Support to determine the definition of activity for this product.
Source Note
Isolated from mouse submaxillary glands
Biological Activity
Bioassayed for neurotrophic activity using the rat pheochromocytoma cell PC12 cultures over a period of 7-14 days. Neurotrophic activity is in the range of 0.5-50ng/ml. Recommended concentration to be used in vitro for maintenance of sympathetic and immature sensory nerve cells is 50-100ng/ml medium
Reconstitution
Dilute in sterile water or DMEM to a concentration of at least 10ug/ml and store at -80 degree C before use. Medium containing NGF cannot be reused due to NGF degradation

Other Notes

Small volumes of Ngf active protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

UniProt Comments for Ngf

NGF: Nerve growth factor is important for the development and maintenance of the sympathetic and sensory nervous systems. Extracellular ligand for the NTRK1 and NGFR receptors, activates cellular signaling cascades through those receptor tyrosine kinase to regulate neuronal proliferation, differentiation and survival. Homodimer. Belongs to the NGF-beta family.
