Basic Cytokeratin (KRT76) Antibody – Rabbit Monoclonal

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS566840

Twenty human keratins are resolved with two-dimensional gel electrophoresis into acidic (pI 6.0) subfamilies. The acidic keratins have molecular weights (MW) of 56.5, 55, 51, 50, 50, 48, 46, 45, and 40kDa. Many studies have shown the usefulness of keratins as… More details

NCBI Summary for KRT76

Keratins are intermediate filament proteins responsible for the structural integrity of epithelial cells and are subdivided into epithelial keratins and hair keratins. The type II keratins are clustered in a region of chromosome 12q13. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2009]

UniProt Comments for KRT76

K76: a type II cytoskeletal keratin. The keratins are intermediate filament proteins responsible for the structural integrity of epithelial cells and are subdivided into cytokeratins and hair keratins. There are two types of cytoskeletal and microfibrillar keratin: type I (acidic; 40-55 kDa) [K9 to K20] and type II (neutral to basic; 56-70 kDa) [K1 to K8]. Both a basic and an acidic keratin are required for filament assembly.

Protein type: Cytoskeletal

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12q13.13
