Western Blot (WB) of anti-Mgmt antibody

Western Blot Analysis: Representative lot data.|HEK293 lysate (Lane 1), HeLa lysate (Lane 2), HepG2 lysate (Lane 3), Jurkat lysate (Lane 4) and PC3 lysate (Lane 5) were resolved by electrophoresis, transferred to PVDF membrane and probed with MBS601697. Proteins were visualized using a goat anti-mouse secondary antibody conjugated to HRP and a chemiluminescence detection system. Arrow indicates protein MGMT (~22kD).

NCBI Summary for Mgmt

enzyme involved in DNA repair of O(6)-alkylguanine which is the major mutagenic and carcinogenic lesion in DNA [RGD, Feb 2006]

UniProt Comments for Mgmt

MGMT: Involved in the cellular defense against the biological effects of O6-methylguanine (O6-MeG) in DNA. Repairs alkylated guanine in DNA by stoichiometrically transferring the alkyl group at the O-6 position to a cysteine residue in the enzyme. This is a suicide reaction: the enzyme is irreversibly inactivated. Belongs to the MGMT family.

Protein type: Nuclear receptor co-regulator; DNA repair, damage; Apoptosis; EC 2.1.1.63; Methyltransferase

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; membrane; nucleus

Molecular Function: methyltransferase activity; methylated-DNA-[protein]-cysteine S-methyltransferase activity; damaged DNA binding; calcium ion binding

Biological Process: methylation; response to drug; response to ethanol; positive regulation of DNA repair; DNA dealkylation; response to folic acid; response to toxin; DNA repair; regulation of caspase activity; response to organic cyclic substance; response to DNA damage stimulus
