Product Categories/Family for anti-MAG antibody

Applications Tested/Suitable for anti-MAG antibody
ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunocytochemistry (ICC)
Application Notes for anti-MAG antibody
Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunocytochemistry and Immunohistochemistry. Useful for myelinogenesis and multiple sclerosis studies.
Dilution: Western Blot: 20ug/ml, non-reducing conditions only
Immunohistochemistry: Frozen and Paraffin
Immunocytochemistry: 5-10ug/ml, methanol fixation required. 1. Oligodendrocytes are cultivated on slides and fixed with methanol for 10 minutes at-20 degree C in the middle log-phase.
2. After blocking the nonspecific binding sites with 5% FCS the cells are incubated with the properly diluted M9757-50 in a humid chamber for one hour at RT.
3. Afterwards cells are washed and incubated with anti-Mouse IgG-FITC. The slides are washed and covered appropriately

NCBI Summary for MAG

The protein encoded by this gene is a type I membrane protein and member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is thought to be involved in the process of myelination. It is a lectin that binds to sialylated glycoconjugates and mediates certain myelin-neuron cell-cell interactions. Three alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq]

UniProt Comments for MAG

MAG: Adhesion molecule in postnatal neural development that mediates sialic-acid dependent cell-cell interactions between neuronal and myelinating cells. Preferentially binds to alpha-2,3- linked sialic acid. Binds to RTN4R. Belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily. SIGLEC (sialic acid binding Ig-like lectin) family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Cell adhesion
