Specificity
Recognizes human DAZL, a member of the DAZ (deleted in azoospermia) family of RNA binding proteins. DAZL is expressed in fetal and adult testes and ovaries, and is believed to play a role in germ cell development. Species crossreactivity: mouse and rat.
Preparation and Storage
May be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and store at -20 degree C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Molecular Weight
33,178 Da
Chromosome Location
Chromosome: 3; NC_000003.11 (16628299..16647006, complement). Location: 3p24.3
OMIM
601486
3D Structure
ModBase 3D Structure for Q92904
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide corresponding to sequence within the C terminal domain of human DAZL (CRVHHFRRSRAMLKSV). In adult germ cells, the expression of DAZL is localized to the cytoplasm.
Hybridoma
Sp2/0 myeloma cells with spleen cells from T/O outbred mice.
Applications Tested/Suitable for anti-DAZL antibody
Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC)
Application Notes for anti-DAZL antibody
Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry and Western Blot.
Dilution: Immunohistochemistry (parrafin): Does not require protein digestion pre-treatment of paraffin sections e.g. trypsin or pronase prior to staining. Requires antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining of paraffin sections.

Other Notes

Small volumes of anti-DAZL antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for DAZL

The DAZ (Deleted in AZoospermia) gene family encodes potential RNA binding proteins that are expressed in prenatal and postnatal germ cells of males and females. The protein encoded by this gene is localized to the nucleus and cytoplasm of fetal germ cells and to the cytoplasm of developing oocytes. In the testis, this protein is localized to the nucleus of spermatogonia but relocates to the cytoplasm during meiosis where it persists in spermatids and spermatozoa. Transposition and amplification of this autosomal gene during primate evolution gave rise to the DAZ gene cluster on the Y chromosome. Mutations in this gene have been linked to severe spermatogenic failure and infertility in males. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. UniProt Comments for DAZL

DAZL: RNA-binding protein, which is essential for gametogenesis. Plays a central role during spermatogenesis. May act by binding to the 3'-UTR of mRNA and thereby regulating the translation of key transcripts. Homodimer and heterodimer. Forms a heterodimer with DAZ. Interacts with BOLL, DAZAP1 and DAZAP2. Interacts with PUM2. Testis specific. Belongs to the RRM DAZ family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Translation

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3p24.3

Cellular Component: polysome; cytoplasm; nucleus

Molecular Function: identical protein binding; protein binding; translation activator activity; mRNA 3'-UTR binding; RNA binding; nucleotide binding

Biological Process: positive regulation of translational initiation; female meiosis II; positive regulation of meiosis; multicellular organismal development; spermatogenesis; oocyte maturation; germ cell development
