Prostate-Derived Ets Factor (SPDEF) Antibody – Rabbit Polyclonal

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS611934

PDEF (prostate-derived Ets factor) is a 37.5-kD protein that acts as an androgen-independent transcriptional activator for the PSA (prostate specific antigen) promoter. It also interacts directly with the DNA binding domain of androgen receptor and enhances… More details

Product Overview

Online Datasheet in PDF
Product Name
Prostate-derived Ets Factor (SPDEF), Polyclonal Antibody
Full Product Name
Prostate-derived Ets Factor (PDEF)
Product Gene Name
Product Synonym Names
Anti -Prostate-derived Ets Factor (PDEF)
Clonality
Polyclonal
Host
Rabbit
Species Reactivity
Human
Form/Format
Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.4, 0.1% sodium azide.
Purity/Purification
Purified
Purified by epitope affinity chromatography.
Specificity
Specific for human PDEF. On Western blots, it identifies a single band at ~37.5kD using LNCAP lysates. There is also a weak band at ~55kD which may be due to the glycosylated form of PDEF. Reactivity has been confirmed with human LNCAP prostate carcinoma cell lysates.
Preparation and Storage
May be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Freeze at -20 degree C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

NCBI Summary for SPDEF

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the ETS family of transcription factors. It is highly expressed in the prostate epithelial cells, and functions as an androgen-independent transactivator of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) promoter. Higher expression of this protein has also been reported in brain, breast, lung and ovarian tumors, compared to the corresponding normal tissues, and it shows better tumor-association than other cancer-associated molecules, making it a more suitable target for developing specific cancer therapies. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2011]

UniProt Comments for SPDEF

SPDEF: May function as an androgen-independent transactivator of the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) promoter. Binds to 5'-GGAT- 3' DNA sequences. May play a role in the regulation of the prostate gland and/or prostate cancer development. Acts as a transcriptional activator for SERPINB5 promoter. Belongs to the ETS family.
