Applications Tested/Suitable for anti-BNIP3 antibody
ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB)
Application Notes for anti-BNIP3 antibody
Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blotting.
Dilution: Western Blot: 1:500-1:1,000. Hypoxic samples at ~30 and 60kD, representing the BNIP3 protein. There are some non-specific bands present, as well. It is recommended that normoxic samples are run next to the hypoxic samples, as a negative control.

Other Notes

Small volumes of anti-BNIP3 antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for BNIP3

This gene is a member of the BCL2/adenovirus E1B 19 kd-interacting protein (BNIP) family. It interacts with the E1B 19 kDa protein, which protects cells from virally-induced cell death. The encoded protein also interacts with E1B 19 kDa-like sequences of BCL2, another apoptotic protector. This protein contains a BH3 domain and a transmembrane domain, which have been associated with pro-apoptotic function. The dimeric mitochondrial protein encoded by this gene is known to induce apoptosis, even in the presence of BCL2. [provided by RefSeq]

UniProt Comments for BNIP3

BNIP3: Apoptosis-inducing protein that, which can overcome BCL2 suppression. May play a role in repartitioning calcium between the two major intracellular calcium stores in association with BCL2. Homodimer. Binds to BCL2. Interacts with BNIP3L and ACAA2. Also can interact with adenovirus E1B 19 kDa protein or Epstein-Barr virus BHRF1. Belongs to the NIP3 family.
