Actin, Pan (Act5C) Antibody – Mouse Monoclonal

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS632115

Actin, an ubiquitous protein in eukaryotes, is the major component of the cytoskeleton. At least six isoforms are known in mammals. Nonmuscle beta- and gamma-actin, also known as cytoplasmic actin, are predominantly expressed in nonmuscle cells, controlling… More details

Other Notes

Small volumes of anti-Act5C antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

UniProt Comments for Act5C

Function: Actins are highly conserved proteins that are involved in various types of cell motility and are ubiquitously expressed in all eukaryotic cells.Multiple isoforms are involved in various cellular functions such as cytoskeleton structure, cell mobility, chromosome movement and muscle contraction.

Subcellular location: Cytoplasm › cytoskeleton.

Post-translational modification: Oxidation of Met-45 by Mical to form methionine sulfoxide promotes actin filament depolymerization. Methionine sulfoxide is produced stereospecifically, but it is not known whether the (S)-S-oxide or the (R)-S-oxide is produced.

Miscellaneous: In Drosophila there are 6 closely related actin genes.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the actin family.
