Product Overview

Online Datasheet in PDF
Product Name
Betacellulin, Bovine (BTC), Active Protein
Full Product Name
Betacellulin, Recombinant, Bovine
Product Gene Name
Sequence
The sequence of the first five N-terminal amino acids was determined and was found to be Asp-Gly-As n-Ser-Thr.
Host
E Coli
Form/Format
Supplied as a lyophilized powder from 50mM acetic acid.
Purity/Purification
Highly Purified
95% as determined by RP-HPLC, anion-exchange FPLC and/or reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE Silver Stained gel.
Preparation and Storage
Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. Reconstitute to nominal volume by adding sterile 40-50% glycerol and store at -20 degree C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Molecular Weight
9kD
Chromosome Location
Chromosome: 4; NC_000004.11 (75671448..75719882, complement). Location: 4q13.3
OMIM
600345
3D Structure
ModBase 3D Structure for P35070
Active Protein Note
Protein activity can be an ambiguous term. Please refer to the data sheet or inquire with Technical Support to determine the definition of activity for this product.
Biological Activity
Fully biologically active when compared to standards. The ED50, calculated by the dose-dependent proliferation of murine BALBC 3T3 cells (measured by 3H-thymidine uptake) is < 10.0ng/ml.
Dimers and Aggregates
1% as determined by silver-stained SDS-PAGE gel analysis.
Endotoxin Level
0.1ng/ug (IEU/ug) of Bovine Betacellulin.
Protein Content
Protein quantitation was carried out by two independent methods:
1. UV spectroscopy at 280nm using the absorbency value of 0.59 as the extinction coefficient for a 0.1% (1mg/ml) solution. This value is calculated by the PC GENE computer analysis program of protein sequences (IntelliGenetics).
2. Analysis by RP-HPLC, using a calibrated solution of BTC as a Reference Standard.
Solubility
It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Bovine BTC in sterile 18M -cm H2O not less than 100ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.

Other Notes

Small volumes of BTC active protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for BTC

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the EGF family of growth factors. It is synthesized primarily as a transmembrane precursor, which is then processed to mature molecule by proteolytic events. This protein is a ligand for the EGF receptor. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
