Cytokeratin 20 (KRT20) Recombinant Protein

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS635642

Keratins are a class of fibrous proteins or scleroproteins important both as structural proteins and as keys to the study of protein conformation. The family represents the principal constituent of epidermis, hair, nails, horny tissues, and the organic matrix… More details

Product Name
Cytokeratin 20 (KRT20), Recombinant Protein
Full Product Name
Cytokeratin 20, Recombinant, Human
Product Gene Name
Host
E Coli
Form/Format
Supplied as a lyophilized powder in 30mM Tris-HCl, pH 8.0, 9.5M urea, 2mM DTT, 2mM EDTA, 10mM methylammonium chloride.
Purity/Purification
Highly Purified
95% by RP-HPLC, FPLC, or reducing/non-reducing SDS-PAGE Silver Stain. Chromatographically purified.
Preparation and Storage
Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. Reconstitute to nominal volume by adding sterile dH2O and store at -20 degree C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

48,487 Da
OMIM
608218
3D Structure
ModBase 3D Structure for P35900
Dimers and Aggregates
1% as determined by silver-stained SDS-PAGE gel analysis.
Endotoxin Level
0.1ng/ug (IEU/ug)
Protein Content
Protein quantitation was carried out by two independent methods:
1. UV spectroscopy at 280nm.
2. Analysis by RP-HPLC, using a calibrated solution of cytokeratin 20 as a Reference Standard.
Reconstitution
Reconstitute the lyophilized CK-20 in sterile 18M -cm H2O not less than 100ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.

Other Notes

Small volumes of KRT20 recombinant protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

UniProt Comments for KRT20

K20: a type I cytoskeletal keratin. The keratins are intermediate filament proteins responsible for the structural integrity of epithelial cells and are subdivided into cytokeratins and hair keratins. There are two types of cytoskeletal and microfibrillar keratin: type I (acidic; 40-55 kDa) [K9 to K20] and type II (neutral to basic; 56-70 kDa) [K1 to K8]. Both a basic and an acidic keratin are required for filament assembly.

Protein type: Cytoskeletal

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q21.2

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; intermediate filament

Molecular Function: protein binding; structural constituent of cytoskeleton

Biological Process: regulation of protein secretion; apoptosis; cellular response to stress; intermediate filament organization
