Cherry Antibody – Rabbit Polyclonal

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS644071

mCherry is derived from proteins originally isolated from Cnidarians (jelly fish, sea anemones and corals), and is used as a fluorescent tracer in trasfection and transgenic experiments. The prototype for these fluorescent proteins is Green Fluorescent… More details

Western Blot (WB) of anti-Cherry antibody

Western Blot analysis of HEK293 cells transfected with pFin-EF1-mCherry vector, in the lane marked "+". HEK293 cells which were not transfected with this vector show no protein band in lane marked "-" using MBS644071. Blot and transfected cells courtesy of the Semple-Rowland lab at the University of Florida.

Testing Data of anti-Cherry antibody

HEK293 cells transfected in the same way and viewed in the confocal microscope. Most HEK293 cells are not transfected so only the nucleus of these cells can be visualized with a blue DNA stain. Cells which are transfected with mCherry are red. Staining with MBS644071 is shown in Green. Green antibody staining is only seen in cells which express mCherry, as expected, and the superimposition of the green and red signals results in an orange signal. Interestingly, stronger mCherry staining is seen in the nucleus, possibly due to degradation of some mCherry molecules to release the low molecular weight mCherry fluorochrome.

Other Notes

Small volumes of anti-Cherry antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.
