Interleukin 20 (IL20) Active Protein

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS650218

The newly discovered cytokine interleukin-20 (IL-20) is structurally related to IL-10, yet it appears to be an autocrine factor for keratinocytes that regulates their participation in inflammation. Recombinant Human IL-20 is a single, non-glycosylated… More details

Product Name
Interleukin 20 (IL20), Active Protein
Full Product Name
Interleukin 20, Recombinant, Human (IL-20)
Product Gene Name
Sequence
The sequence of the first five N-terminal amino acids was determined and was found to be Met-Leu-Ly s-Thr-Leu.
Host
Recombinant, Human from E Coli
Form/Format
Supplied as a lyophilized powder in 100mM sodium chloride, 10mM sodium citrate, pH 3.0.
Purity/Purification
Highly Purified
98% by RP-HPLC, FPLC, or reducing/non-reducing SDS-PAGE Silver Stain. Chromatographically purified.
Preparation and Storage
Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. Reconstitute to nominal volume by adding sterile dH2O and store at -20 degree C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

ModBase 3D Structure for Q9NYY1
Active Protein Note
Protein activity can be an ambiguous term. Please refer to the data sheet or inquire with Technical Support to determine the definition of activity for this product.
Biological Activity
IL-20 is fully biologically active when compared to standard. The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of human MO7e cells is < 0.2ng/ml, corresponding to a Specific Activity of 5x10e6 IU/mg.
Dimers and Aggregates
1% as determined by silver-stained SDS-PAGE gel analysis.
Endotoxin Level
0.1ng/ug (IEU/ug) of hIL-20.
Protein Content
Protein quantitation was carried out by two independent methods:
1. UV spectroscopy at 280nm.
2. Analysis by RP-HPLC, using a calibrated solution of IL-20 as a Reference Standard.
Reconstitution
Reconstitute the lyophilized Interleukin-20 in sterile ddH2O not less than 100ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.

Other Notes

Small volumes of IL20 active protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for IL20

The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine structurally related to interleukin 10 (IL10). This cytokine has been shown to transduce its signal through signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) in keratinocytes. A specific receptor for this cytokine is found to be expressed in skin and upregulated dramatically in psoriatic skin, suggesting a role for this protein in epidermal function and psoriasis.
