Host
E Coli
Form/Format
Supplied as a lyophilized powder from 0.05M Acetate buffer pH4
Purity/Purification
Highly Purified
Three-step procedure using affinity Ni-NTA chromatography and size exclusion chromatography before and after refolding. Purity of recombinant human cardiotrophin is >90% (SDS-PAGE analyzed).
Specificity
The amino acid sequence of the recombinant human cardiotrophin is 100% homologous to the amino acid sequence of the human cardiotrophin.
Preparation and Storage
Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. Reconstitute to nominal volume by adding sterile 40-50% glycerol and store at -20 degree C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Molecular Weight
22.5kD
Chromosome Location
Chromosome: 16; NC_000016.9 (30907928..30914881). Location: 16p11.2
OMIM
600435
3D Structure
ModBase 3D Structure for Q16619
Reconstitution
Add 0.2ml of 0.1M Acetate buffer pH4 and let the lyophilized pellet dissolve completely. For conversion into higher pH value, we recommend intensive dilution by relevant buffer to a concentration of 10ug/ml. In higher concentrations the solubility of this antigen is limited.
Applications Tested/Suitable for CTF1 recombinant protein
Western Blot (WB)

Other Notes

Small volumes of CTF1 recombinant protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for CTF1

The protein encoded by this gene is a secreted cytokine that induces cardiac myocyte hypertrophy in vitro. It has been shown to bind and activate the ILST/gp130 receoptor. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq]
