Fluid Thioglycollate Medium w/K Agar Culture Media

A sterility testing medium where clarity of the medium is required, Fluid Thioglycollate Medium w/K Agar is suitable for isolation of A. acidoterrestris spores from fruit juices. K Agar is a native form that exhibits exceptional clarity in gel form, allowing for easier visual detection of bacterial growth. Dextrose, casitone, cystine, and yeast extract provide the growth factors necessary for bacterial replication. Sodium provides essential ions. The reducing agents sodium thioglycollate and cystine lower the redox potential of the medium, thereby supporting anaerobiosis. Sodium thioglycollate also prevents accumulation of peroxides which are lethal to some microorganisms. Resazurin serves as redox indicator.

Small volumes of Fluid Thioglycollate Medium w/K Agar culture media vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.
