Eugonic Agar Culture Media

All purpose medium for the microbiological testing of many food products.

Eugonic Agar was developed by Vera to enhance the growth of fastidious microorganisms. The addition of GC Enrichment supports the growth of Haemophilus, Neisseria, Pasteurella and Brucella. Preparation of chocolate agar with this medium further enhances the recovery time of these fastidious microorganisms. Because of the high carbohydrate content it cannot be used for determining the hemolytic patterns of microorganisms. Finegold recommended Eugonic Agar supplemented with 1% maltose, 0.5% yeast extract and hemin 5 ug/ml for the cultivation of anaerobes. Various workers have used Eugonic Agar for testing food products.

Small volumes of Eugonic Agar culture media vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.
