Collagenase Nomenclature
Type 1: Containing average amounts of assayed activities (collagenase, caseinase, c10stripain and tryptic activities). It is generally recommended for fat, adrenal and liver cells.
Type 2: Containing greater clostripain activity. It is generally used for heart, bone, muscle, thyroid, cartilage and liver cells.
Type 3: Containing low proteolytic activity. It is usually used for mammary and fetal cells.
Type 4: Containing low tryptic activity. It is commonly used for islets and other applications where receptclr integrity is crucial.
