Application Notes for anti-IL13 antibody
Research Application(s): ELISA Detection: JES10-2E10 monoclonal antibody is useful as a detection antibody in a sandwich ELISA for quantifying human IL-13 protein levels.1,2 Biotinylated JES10-2E10 antibody should be paired with purified JES- 35G12 antibody or JES10-5A2 as the capture antibody, with purified recombinant human IL-13 as the standard.
Western Blotting: The purified JES10-2E10 antibody is also useful for Western blotting applications. A concentration of 1-5 ug/mL (in conjunction with AP-labeled Goat Anti-Rat-Ig) has been found to enable detection of <= 100 ng/lane of recombinant human IL-13 under reducing conditions.
Since applications vary, each investigator should determine the optimal concentration appropriate for individual applications.

Other Notes

Small volumes of anti-IL13 antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for IL13

This gene encodes an immunoregulatory cytokine produced primarily by activated Th2 cells. This cytokine is involved in several stages of B-cell maturation and differentiation. It up-regulates CD23 and MHC class II expression, and promotes IgE isotype switching of B cells. This cytokine down-regulates macrophage activity, thereby inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines. This cytokine is found to be critical to the pathogenesis of allergen-induced asthma but operates through mechanisms independent of IgE and eosinophils. This gene, IL3, IL5, IL4, and CSF2 form a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 5q, with this gene particularly close to IL4. [provided by RefSeq]

UniProt Comments for IL13

Function: Cytokine. Inhibits inflammatory cytokine production. Synergizes with IL2 in regulating interferon-gamma synthesis. May be critical in regulating inflammatory and immune responses.

Subunit structure: Interacts with IL13RA2.

Subcellular location: Secreted.

Involvement in disease: Defects in IL13 may be a cause of susceptibility to allergic rhinitis (ALRH) [

MIM:607154]. Allergic rhinitis is a common disease of complex inheritance and is characterized by mucosal inflammation caused by allergen exposure.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the IL-4/IL-13 family.

Caution: It is uncertain whether Met-1 or Met-15 is the initiator.

Sequence caution: The sequence AAA36107.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation. Translation N-terminally extended. The sequence AAA83738.1 differs from that shown.
