Application Notes for anti-IL-2 antibody
Research Application(s): ELISA: JES6-1A12 monoclonal antibody is useful as a capture antibody in a sandwich ELISA for quantifying mouse IL-2 protein levels.1-3 Purified JES6-1A12 antibody may be paired with biotinylated JES-5H4 antibody as the detection antibody, with purified recombinant mouse IL-2 as the standard. Or, conversely, biotinylated JES6-1A12 antibody may be paired with purified JES-5H4 antibody as the capture antibody.
Western Blotting: The purified JES6-1A12 antibody is also useful for immunoprecipitation and Western blotting applications.1 For Western blotting, a concentration of 1-5 ug/mL (in conjunction with AP-labeled Goat Anti-Rat-Ig) has been found to enable detection of <= 100 ng/lane of recombinant mouse IL-2 under reducing conditions.
Since applications vary, each investigator should determine the optimal concentration appropriate for individual applications.

Other Notes

Small volumes of anti-IL-2 antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for IL-2

The protein encoded by this gene is a secreted cytokine that is important for the proliferation of T and B lymphocytes. The receptor of this cytokine is a heterotrimeric protein complex whose gamma chain is also shared by interleukin 4 (IL4) and interleukin 7 (IL7). The expression of this gene in mature thymocytes is monoallelic, which represents an unusual regulatory mode for controlling the precise expression of a single gene. The targeted disruption of a similar gene in mice leads to ulcerative colitis-like disease, which suggests an essential role of this gene in the immune response to antigenic stimuli. UniProt Comments for IL-2

IL2: Produced by T-cells in response to antigenic or mitogenic stimulation, this protein is required for T-cell proliferation and other activities crucial to regulation of the immune response. Can stimulate B-cells, monocytes, lymphokine- activated killer cells, natural killer cells, and glioma cells. A chromosomal aberration involving IL2 is found in a form of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL). Translocation t(4;16)(q26;p13) with involves TNFRSF17. Belongs to the IL-2 family.
