CD80 Antibody – Mouse Monoclonal

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS690069

B7-1(CD80) and B7-2, together with their receptors CD28 and CTLA4, constitute one of the dominant costimulatory pathways that regulate T and B cell responses. Although both CTLA4 and CD28 can bind to the same ligands, CTLA4 binds to B7-1 and B7-2 with a… More details

NCBI Summary for CD80

The protein encoded by this gene is a membrane receptor that is activated by the binding of CD28 or CTLA-4. The activated protein induces T-cell proliferation and cytokine production. This protein can act as a receptor for adenovirus subgroup B and may play a role in lupus neuropathy. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]

UniProt Comments for CD80

Function: Involved in the costimulatory signal essential for T-lymphocyte activation. T-cell proliferation and cytokine production is induced by the binding of CD28, binding to CTLA-4 has opposite effects and inhibits T-cell activation. Ref.8

Subunit structure: Homodimer; CD80 dimers on the antigen presenting cells (APCs) bridge CTLA4/CD152 dimers on T-cells in a periodic zipper-like arrangement. Interacts with adenovirus subgroup B fiber proteins and acts as a receptor for these viruses. Ref.8 Ref.9 Ref.11

Subcellular location: Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein.

Tissue specificity: Expressed on activated B-cells, macrophages and dendritic cells.

Sequence similarities: Contains 1 Ig-like C2-type (immunoglobulin-like) domain.Contains 1 Ig-like V-type (immunoglobulin-like) domain.
