JE (MCP-1, CCL2) Antibody – Rabbit Polyclonal

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS691271

JE or MCP-1, also known as monocyte chemotactic and activating factor (MCAF), was initially purified based on its ability to chemoattract monocytes. Subsequent to its cloning and sequencing, it became evident that this protein is also identical to the product… More details

Application Notes for anti-JE (MCP-1, CCL2) antibody
Western Blot: To detect murine JE (MCP-1) by Western Blot analysis this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1 - 0.2 ug/ml. Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents the detection limit for recombinant murine JE (MCP-1) is 1.5 - 3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Other Notes

Small volumes of anti-JE (MCP-1, CCL2) antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for JE (MCP-1, CCL2)

This gene is one of several cytokine genes clustered on chromosome 11. Chemokines are a superfamily of secreted proteins involved in immunoregulatory and inflammatory processes. The superfamily is divided into four subfamilies based on the arrangement of N-terminal cysteine residues of the mature peptide. This chemokine is a member of the CC subfamily which is characterized by two adjacent cysteine residues. This cytokine displays chemotactic activity for monocytes and memory T cells but not for neutrophils. The human ortholog has been implicated in the pathogenesis of diseases characterized by monocytic infiltrates, such as psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, and atherosclerosis. UniProt Comments for JE (MCP-1, CCL2)

Function: Chemotactic factor that attracts monocytes, but not neutrophils.

Subunit structure: Monomer or homodimer; in equilibrium

By similarity.

Subcellular location: Secreted.

Induction: By platelet-derived growth factor. Up-regulated upon hypertonic conditions. Ref.5

Polymorphism: The polymorphisms in strain SJL/J may be associated with severity of clinical symptoms of experimental allergic encephalomyelitis, an animal model of multiple sclerosis, and susceptibility to the monophasic remitting/nonrelapsing form of the disease.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the intercrine beta (chemokine CC) family.
