Application Notes for anti-BD-3 antibody
Sandwich ELISA: To detect hBD-3 by sandwich ELISA (using 100 mul/well antibody solution) a concentration of 0.5 - 2.0 mug/ml of this antibody is required. This antigen affinity purified antibody, in conjunction with Biotinylated Anti-Human BD-3 as a detection antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2 - 0.4 ng/well of recombinant hBD-3.

Western Blot: To detect hBD-3 by Western Blot analysis this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1 - 0.2 ug/ml. Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents the detection limit for recombinant hBD-3 is 1.5 - 3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Other Notes

Small volumes of anti-BD-3 antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for BD-3

Defensins form a family of microbicidal and cytotoxic peptides made by neutrophils. Members of the defensin family are highly similar in protein sequence. This gene encodes defensin, beta 103, an antibiotic peptide which is induced by bacteria and interferon gamma, and which displays antimicrobial activity against S. aureus, S. pyogenes, P. aeruginosa, E. coli, and C. albicans. UniProt Comments for BD-3

defensin, beta 3: Exhibits antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria S.aureus and S.pyogenes, Gram-negative bacteria P.aeruginosa and E.coli and the yeast C.albicans. Kills multiresistant S.aureus and vancomycin-resistant E.faecium. No significant hemolytic activity was observed. Belongs to the beta-defensin family.
