Application Notes for anti-RETN antibody
Immunohistochemistery: This antibody stained formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded sections of human normal placenta. The recommended concentration is 1.0 mg/ml with a two hour incubation at room temperature. An HRP-labeled polymer detection system was used with a DAB chromogen. Heat induced antigen retrieval with a pH 6.0 sodium citrate buffer is recommended.

Sandwich ELISA: To detect hResistin by sandwich ELISA (using 100 mul/well antibody solution) a concentration of 0.5 - 2.0 mug/ml of this antibody is required. This antigen affinity purified antibody, in conjunction with Biotinylated Anti-Human Resistin as a detection antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2 - 0.4 ng/well of recombinant hResistin.

Western Blot: To detect hResistin by Western Blot analysis this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1 - 0.2 ug/ml. Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents the detection limit for recombinant hResistin is 1.5 - 3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Other Notes

Small volumes of anti-RETN antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for RETN

This gene belongs to the family defined by the mouse resistin-like genes. The characteristic feature of this family is the C-terminal stretch of 10 cys residues with identical spacing. The mouse homolog of this protein is secreted by adipocytes, and may be the hormone potentially linking obesity to type II diabetes. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2010]
