Other Notes

Small volumes of COMP elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS700024 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing COMP. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS700024 kit is based on COMP antibody-COMP antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect COMP antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, COMP. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for COMP

extracellular matrix protein that interacts with fibronectin and may play a role in extracellular matrix assembly and molecular interactions [RGD, Feb 2006]

UniProt Comments for COMP

Function: May play a role in the structural integrity of cartilage via its interaction with other extracellular matrix proteins such as the collagens and fibronectin. Can mediate the interaction of chondrocytes with the cartilage extracellular matrix through interaction with cell surface integrin receptors. Could play a role in the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis. Potent suppressor of apoptosis in both primary chondrocytes and transformed cells. Suppresses apoptosis by blocking the activation of caspase-3 and by inducing the IAP family of survival proteins (BIRC3, BIRC2, BIRC5 and XIAP) Essential for maintaining a vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) contractile/differentiated phenotype under physiological and pathological stimuli. Maintains this phenotype of VSMCs by interacting with ITGA7.1 PublicationManual assertion based on experiment in:Ref.2

Cofactor: Binds 11-14 calcium ions per subunit
