Product Overview

Online Datasheet in PDF
Product Name
Perforin (PRF), ELISA Kit
Full Product Name
Chicken Perforin ELISA Kit
Product Gene Name
Species Reactivity
Chicken
Assay Type
Quantitative Competitive
Samples
Serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants, body fluid and tissue homogenate
Sensitivity
1.0 ng/mL
Specificity
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of PRF1. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between PRF1 and analogues was observed. NOTE: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross-reactivity detection between PRF1 and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist in some cases.
Preparation and Storage
Store all reagents at 2-8 degree C.
Molecular Weight
61,377 Da
OMIM
gene 603553
Sample Preparation
We suggest pre-experimenting with neat (undiluted) samples, 1:2 or 1:4 dilutions. Please avoid diluting your samples more than 1:10 as it would exceed the dilution limit set for this kit. If the expected concentration of the target is beyond the detection range of the kit, please contact our technical support team

Other Notes

Small volumes of PRF elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

Searchable Terms for PRF purchase

MBS753610 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Perforin (PRF) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing PRF. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS753610 kit is based on PRF antibody-PRF antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect PRF antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, PRF. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for PRF

The protein encoded by this gene has structural and functional similarities to complement component 9 (C9). Like C9, this protein creates transmembrane tubules and is capable of lysing non-specifically a variety of target cells. This protein is one of the main cytolytic proteins of cytolytic granules, and it is known to be a key effector molecule for T-cell- and natural killer-cell-mediated cytolysis. Defects in this gene cause familial hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis type 2 (HPLH2), a rare and lethal autosomal recessive disorder of early childhood. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding the same protein. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

UniProt Comments for PRF

PRF1: Plays a key role in secretory granule-dependent cell death, and in defense against virus-infected or neoplastic cells. Plays an important role in killing other cells that are recognized as non-self by the immune system, e.g. in transplant rejection or some forms of autoimmune disease. Can insert into the membrane of target cells in its calcium-bound form, oligomerize and form large pores. Promotes cytolysis and apoptosis of target cells by facilitating the uptake of cytotoxic granzymes. Monomer, as sobluble protein. Homooligomer. Oligomerization is required for pore formation. Repressed by contact with target cells. Belongs to the complement C6/C7/C8/C9 family.

Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 10q22

Cellular Component: membrane; cytoplasmic membrane-bound vesicle; integral to membrane; extracellular region; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: protein binding; calcium ion binding; wide pore channel activity

Biological Process: formation of immunological synapse; apoptosis; cytolysis; defense response to tumor cell; cellular defense response; immune response to tumor cell; defense response to virus; transmembrane transport; protein homooligomerization

Disease: Lymphoma, Non-hodgkin, Familial; Aplastic Anemia; Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis, Familial, 2
